NZ Texels fly in
We are very excited that during the early part of the summer we will be importing two Texel rams and 10 Texel ewes directly from New Zealand. These will fly from Auckland to Heathrow via USA at a cost that makes first class air fare look cheap!
The purpose of this new EasyRam venture is to enable us to produce Sufftex Rams and to continue to increase the amount of Myomax within our flock as well as producing low maintenance Texels whose normal problems have been genetically selected against.
The sheep all come from one Texel stud which is run on organic lines with a total annual drug bill of $190 NZ dollars for a 1000 ewe flock! Selection is based on lambing ease, lamb survival, sound feet with no foot trimming and worm resistance. This is allied to rapid growth off grass.
