Sufftex

A Sufftex is a Suffolk X Texel created by using a New Zealand Texel (semen) on our NZ Suffolk ewes. This is a very popular "breed" in New Zealand - due to its hybrid vigour.

We have used first cross Sufftex rams created as above on NZ Suffolk ewes and we are currently offering for sale Sufftex rams containing 3/4 Suffolk and 1/4 Texel genetics.

Myomax

The purpose of this breeding policy is to "introgress" the Myomax gene into the Suffolk breed. Sheep identified with Myomax have 5% extra meat in the loin and leg with one copy and 10% with two copies. They also carry 7% less fat with one copy and 14% less fat with two copies. Our aim is to create a full "Myomax gold" flock of NZ Suffolks as soon as possible.
